“Sure.” Silence lingered for a bit until, Michael cleared
his throat. “I had another reason for bringing you home.”
Ami stretched out his legs and fought off a yawn. Their
win tonight had been hard-fought and he’d love to just curl up in bed and rest.
“What’s that?”
“Seriously? You don’t know what I’m talking about?”
Sitting up fully in the seat, he angled his body to see
the man behind the wheel. Michael had a scowl on his face.
“I have no clue what you’re talking about. Did something
happen at the game that I missed?” He raked his brain trying to figure out what
had pissed off his captain so bad only to come up short. “I mean, I know I don’t
go to all the parties you all do, but I thought everyone understood that my
family comes first. I’m not here to party. I’ll give my all on the court, but
then it’s time for them.”
“No one, and I mean no
one, is questioning your devotion to the team and for us making it far into
the championships this year. This is about you and me.”
He tugged on his gloves and shook his head. “I’m not
following.”
They stopped at a red light and Michael faced him, anger
clouding his normally easygoing features. “Did that night in Vegas mean so
little to you? ”
